Your Therapy Journey with Brighter Pathways NQ

We understand that starting therapy can feel overwhelming, so we’re here to guide you every step of the way. Our process is designed to be simple, supportive, and tailored to your child’s unique needs. From the initial inquiry to ongoing therapy and progress reviews, we work closely with families to ensure the best outcomes. Below is a step-by-step overview of what to expect on your journey with us.

Step 1 - Initial Contact

Your child’s journey begins with a referral from a GP, paediatrician, teacher, or through direct contact with our clinic from a parent. Once you join our waitlist, we will discuss your concerns and schedule an initial consultation to start the process when a therapy spot is available.

Step 2 - Case history and observation

In the case history session, we gather information about your child's communication history, developmental milestones, and family background. This session also focuses on building rapport with your child and observing their behaviour and communication skills to better understand their needs.

Step 3 - Assessment & Reporting

During the assessment session, we evaluate your child’s abilities based on the case history information using a range of tools and activities. This session helps identify specific areas of concern and establish a baseline for therapy.

We then analyse the results, score the assessments used, and interpret the findings to identify strengths and areas for improvement. A comprehensive report is then written, summarising the assessment and providing clear insights into your child’s communication profile.

Step 4 - Therapy Plan

After the assessment we meet with you to discuss the results, answer any questions, and set realistic, measurable therapy goals. These goals are tailored to your child’s specific needs and development.

We then develop an individualised therapy plan that outlines the strategies, frequency, and expected outcomes of therapy. This plan ensures that therapy is targeted and effective for your child.

Step 5 - Therapy

Therapy sessions begin based on the therapy plan, focusing on improving your child’s skills using a variety of techniques and activities. Sessions are designed to be engaging, supportive, and developmentally appropriate.

Step 6 - Progress Review

We regularly review your child’s progress towards their goals and adjust the therapy plan as needed. Ongoing reviews ensure that therapy remains effective and continues to support your child’s development.

Once the review process has been completed, ongoing goals will be targeted through therapy interventions if required.

Step 7 - Discharge

Once your child has achieved their therapy goals, we will conduct a final assessment to confirm progress. If goals are met and no further therapy is needed, we will discharge your child from therapy with recommendations for continued support at home or school.
